في زمن تنصب فيه أطماع الاعداء للنيل من عظمة شعب ما، وفي زمن يتكاثر فيه الهدامون والحاقدون والراغبون بهدم الهوية الحضارية والوطنية لشعب ما، في هذا الزمن يصبح فيه التمسك بالهوية قضية مجتمعية ومصيرية، وواجب يطال الأفراد والجماعات بقدر ما يهم المؤسسات والهيئات الرسمية وكذلك الجامعات والمراكز البحثية، وفي هذا الإطار يكتسب التراث أهمية خاصة في علاقته مع الهوية. فكلما زادت المخاطر على الهوية الوطنية كلما زادت أهمية الحفاظ على التراث باعتباره الحامل الحضاري الأقوى والعامود الفقري الذي تتكون منه هذه الهوية. Abidance to identity has become a social and fateful issue and a duty that affects individuals and groups as much as it does official institutions and bodies, universities, and research centers, at a time when the ambitions of the enemies are set to undermine the greatness of a people and at a time when the destructors, haters, and those wishing to destroy the civilized and national identity of a people multiply. Heritage's significance in shaping an individual's sense of identity is heightened in this light. The stronger the threats to national identity, the more essential it is to safeguard heritage as the most potent cultural bearer and the bedrock of this identity.
